I like the ApEQ Keygen As a one-shot or continuous VST in/out plugin, can take input signals from/to any Audio units (instruments, effect processors, etc.) and emit audio to their outputs. What's cool about this is that it's a true input/output plugin. This means it takes an input signal in one channel of an audio unit and produces an output signal that is processed through a sound and sent out to any of the unit's output channels. But to make the plugin do that, it needs to be able to correctly send the unit's data over the VST's various places. It does this by giving the unit its audio data in the right order. If you have a similar VST with a small buffer of audio data in it, it can get that audio data sent out in the order you want. But in the case of units that have lots of audio data, that can be difficult. This plugin helps with that by having a buffer of audio data in the audio unit it is in. You can tell the plugin to put all the audio data it has accumulated in a buffer and when the plugin has accumulated enough, it will make a callback for the user to take a look at what is in the buffer. Once you're finished examining the buffer, it will send the data to the unit and out to its output. Why is this cool? One of the most annoying things about trying to get your VST to sound right is that it's difficult to know what's going on inside of the audio unit. If the VST has a VU meter or similar, it's probably not giving a good indication of what's going on in the unit. It would be nice to be able to see what's going on, and for that to be accurate.
